Community Guidelines

Rules to follow in order to produce respectful, safe, sourced, and useful content in the EmuDesk community.

Last updated: April 22, 2026

EmuDesk is a community that helps emulator users solve their problems, reach reliable guides, find keymap and tool information, and share their experiences. These guidelines have been prepared so that everyone can contribute in a safe, respectful, and useful environment.

1. Core principle: help, do not mislead, do no harm

On EmuDesk, every contribution should aim to help a user solve a real problem. When you write content, be clear, testable, sourced, and honest. When you are not sure, say so; do not present information as definitive.

2. Respectful communication

  • Be kind, patient, and constructive with other users.
  • Criticise ideas; do not target people.
  • Do not belittle beginners; when you direct someone to search, also show them the path to the solution.
  • Insults, harassment, threats, humiliation, hate speech, discrimination, and targeting are prohibited.
  • Avoid provocative, mocking, or personalising comments.

3. Quality content standard

When adding issue reports, guides, solutions, tool descriptions, or keymap content, provide as much of the following information as possible:

  • The emulator used and its version/edition.
  • The relevant game, regional version, and update version.
  • The basic system specifications and operating system.
  • When the problem started and how it recurs.
  • The steps you have tried and their results.
  • Any error messages, screenshots, or logs, summarised safely.
  • The risks, side effects, and rollback steps of the solution.

4. Use of sources

If you are taking information from another site, developer, forum, Discord message, video guide, or tool page, indicate the source. Do not copy another person's text as-is; summarise it in your own words and provide a link. If the source is unclear or the content is outdated, note this.

5. Prohibited content

The following content is not allowed on EmuDesk:

  • Pirated ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files, APKs, cracks, licence keys, methods for bypassing paid content, or files/links that infringe copyright.
  • Cheats, macros, exploits, anti-cheat bypasses, ban bypasses, or methods that undermine game integrity.
  • Malware, suspicious download links, phishing, fake updates, or shortened links whose destination is concealed.
  • Spam, repeated promotion, irrelevant advertising, or self-promotion unrelated to the community.
  • Violence, hatred, harassment, sexual content, content that endangers child safety, or direction towards illegal activity.
  • Disclosure of personal data, doxxing, sharing private messages without permission, or targeting someone else's account.

6. Files, tools, and download links

When sharing tools, keymaps, or files, prioritise safety. Prefer official sources, state the version, explain what the file does, and provide the user with rollback steps. If the file modifies game files, emulator configuration, or security settings, say so clearly.

  • If the source of a file is unclear, do not present it as "safe".
  • If there is a VirusTotal or similar scan result, add a link or summary; however, state that this is not a guarantee.
  • Do not direct users to disable their antivirus entirely. If necessary, explain only informed, limited exception steps.
  • Do not disregard the risk of bans, the impact on account security, or the risk of violating terms of service.

7. Rules for writing issues and solutions

When opening an issue, write a descriptive title. Instead of generic titles such as "Help", "not working", or "urgent", state the problem, the game, and the emulator. When proposing a solution, write out the situations in which it works and the situations in which it should not be applied.

Always indicate whether a solution is permanent, a temporary workaround, or applicable only to a specific version. Do not present solutions for old versions as applicable to the current version.

8. Comment and discussion rules

  • Do not go off-topic; if you have a different problem, open a new issue or community post.
  • Do not copy the same message across multiple threads.
  • Do not share commands that could harm other users' systems without context.
  • When you notice incorrect information, issue a correction or report it.
  • Do not prolong discussions that do not contribute to the solution.

9. Voting, badges, and reputation

Votes and badges exist to allow the community to highlight useful contributions. It is prohibited to vote with fake accounts, engage in group vote manipulation, solicit reciprocal votes, inflate reputation with spam contributions, or attempt to influence moderation decisions.

10. Streamer and creator rules

Users who have a streamer profile must keep their platform links accurate, avoid misleading follower or subscriber claims, and keep the descriptions visible on EmuDesk in line with community standards. Stream or video content must be reasonably related to emulation, games, guides, solutions, or the community.

11. Moderation process

The moderation team may review reports, edit content, issue warnings, remove content from publication, limit visibility, suspend accounts, or close them permanently. Decisions are taken with regard to the severity of the violation, recurrence, intent, user safety, and platform integrity.

In situations such as an immediate safety risk, malicious files, disclosure of personal data, serious harassment, or copyright infringement, content may be removed without prior notice.

12. Reporting

When you see content that violates the rules, use the report feature on the relevant page. In your report, describe the issue briefly and clearly. The reporting system must not be used to silence users with whom you disagree; misuse may result in moderation sanctions.

13. Appeal

If you believe that a moderation decision is incorrect, you may appeal through the Contact page. In your appeal, state your username, the link to the relevant content, why you believe the decision is incorrect, and any supporting evidence. EmuDesk endeavours to evaluate appeals within a reasonable time; however, appeals made in bad faith or repeated appeals may be restricted.

14. Updates to the rules

As the community grows, these rules may be updated. The current rules are published on this page. Your continued use of EmuDesk means that you accept the updated Community Guidelines.
